Google AI Overviews Return For Many Large Brand Names
Google is showing AI Overviews for branded queries again, including for many large company names. Chris Long tested around 100 brands and found that 93% of them had an AI Overview appearing for their name, with Reddit, Salesforce, Amazon and Adobe among the examples.
Most of these overviews sit lower down the results page rather than above the company's own homepage link. Adobe is one exception, where the AI Overview appears at the top for its brand name. Google's own name and news publications do not currently trigger the feature.
Long first noted the pattern in July 2026, but AI Overviews now appear across far more queries than they did then. For brands, the change means the answer box is competing for attention on navigational searches, even when it sits below the main result.
