ChatGPT Ads switches on automatic creative changes by default
OpenAI is turning on creative enhancements by default for new and existing ChatGPT Ads campaigns from Friday, October 30. With the setting active, the ad system can rewrite headlines and descriptions, translate copy into another language, resize images and redirect clicks to a different page on the advertiser's site, all without each variation being reviewed or approved first.
Ads Manager does not show a preview of every version, and the help page describes enhancements as a single setting with no separate controls for text, translations, images or destination URLs. Opt-outs already saved at account or campaign level stay in place, and campaign-level settings override account-level ones. Advertisers can switch the feature off at any time under Manage settings.
The change matters for tracking. Because the system may swap the destination URL, advertisers are being advised to check that UTM tags still pass through on ChatGPT clicks and that paid traffic lands on pages they are happy to promote. Pricing, promotions and product availability on landing pages need to be current, since the system builds variations from the ad and the page it points to.
OpenAI also opened a multi-image ad format in beta on October 26, using four to six square images that share one destination URL, with Learn more as the only call to action. The creative enhancements page does not say whether the feature applies to those ads.
