Gemini Notebook Pages Spamming Google Search
Public Gemini Notebook pages, the shareable version of NotebookLM, are being used to push spam into Google's search results. The pages cover sex toys, porn, peptides and coupon codes, and Google has indexed more than 12,000 of them without removing the lot.
The tactic was first flagged by Charles Floate, who described using Google itself to game an AI Overview, and then picked up by Gagan Ghotra, who called it a new parasite SEO play built on indexable public notebooks. Glenn Gabe reshared it and said the pages would probably disappear soon, while noting the range of spam from peptides to discount codes to apps.
Parasite SEO works by hosting content on a domain that already carries search trust, so the spam inherits authority it did not earn. Here the host is Google's own product, which is why the pages rank and why the fix sits with Google rather than with the spammers.
For brands trying to be cited in AI answers, the episode is a reminder that the surfaces feeding those answers can be gamed, and that a platform's own properties are not exempt. Google can clear the pages from its index, but has not done so yet.
