Google AI Overviews Now Generate Full Team Rosters
Google has begun generating complete sports team rosters inside AI Overviews, replacing the need to click through to the sites that publish them. The change was spotted by SEO analyst Glenn Gabe, who searched for the Las Vegas Raiders roster during a game on Sunday and found an AI Overview listing the entire team, something he said had not appeared for him before.
The placement is inconsistent. For the New York Jets, the AI-generated roster sits below the official team website, while searches for the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers returned no AI Overview at all. The mobile version of the Raiders result is considerably longer than the desktop one.
For publishers that rely on roster pages for traffic, the shift removes a routine visit from the user journey. It also signals that Google is willing to reproduce structured factual content directly in the answer box rather than sending users to the source, a pattern that matters to any brand whose pages are built around reference data.
