Google Extends Publisher Subscription Content to AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini
Google has redesigned the Reader Revenue Manager homepage and expanded where publisher subscription content can surface. Content from a publisher's subscribers and contributors can now appear in a "From your subscriptions" distinction on Google Search, AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini. Previously that treatment was limited to a "From Your Subscriptions" panel in Search, Discover and News.
Reader Revenue Manager is aimed at publishers that do not already run a membership model, letting them add subscriptions or contributions to desktop and mobile web pages. It also covers newsletter sign-up, surveys and reader registration for engagement and retention.
The new homepage adds an Advanced features section that was not on the previous version. It lists five-step pricing, metered read, bundles, subscription linking, customisable payment reminder emails, first-party customisable surveys, rewarded ads, registration walls, newsletter signup, cancellation surveys and call-to-action customisation.
For brands and agencies tracking how AI assistants cite sources, the change widens the set of surfaces where a publisher's paying readers see its content flagged as coming from a subscription they hold. It applies to publishers using Reader Revenue Manager, not to general brand content.
