Google launches Universal Cart across Search and Gemini in the US

Google has launched Universal Cart in the United States, an intelligent shopping cart that works across Google Search and the Gemini app. The tool holds products saved from different retailers in one place, so a shopper can add a handbag in AI Mode in Search and a sweater in Gemini and find both waiting later.

The cart runs on Google's Shopping Graph, which holds more than 60 billion continually refreshed product listings. It uses that data to send notifications about price drops and items coming back in stock, and it surfaces relevant promo codes. Because it is built on Google Wallet, it can also compare the card perks a shopper already holds and suggest which payment method to use.

Checkout happens either through Google Pay inside the cart or by transferring the items to the merchant's own site. Google names Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair and many Shopify merchants among the stores supporting the simplified checkout. The merchant remains the seller of record and handles confirmations and customer support.

For brands, the launch puts more of the holiday purchase path inside Google's own surfaces, where product data in the Shopping Graph decides whether an item is saved, tracked and eventually bought. Google describes the cart as one of two tracks it is building for commerce, alongside agentic tools that act on a shopper's behalf.
