Google Opens AI Mode Monitoring to All Users Worldwide
Google has made its AI Mode monitoring feature available to every user globally, after previously limiting it to Ultra and Pro subscribers. Robby Stein, the company's vice president of product in Search, said the capability is now rolling out to all accounts through the Google app.
The feature lets users ask AI Mode to track a topic, and Search then checks sites, forums, social posts, real-time data sources and Google's Shopping Graph of more than 60 billion products for changes. Alerts arrive through the Google app, and AI Mode will also suggest monitoring tasks while someone is searching.
Google pointed to local restaurant openings, holiday activities for children, and restock or price-drop updates as example uses. The rollout is under way, so some users will not see it immediately.
For brands, the change widens the surface where AI assistants can surface or omit a company. Monitoring prompts are another place where being cited in AI answers matters, and where a brand's absence is now easier for users to notice.
