Google's Universal Cart goes live in Search and Gemini

Google has begun rolling out its Universal Cart in the United States, days after announcing it. Shoppers now see a cart icon at the top right of the search results page, and product listings carry "Add to cart" buttons that drop items straight into the cart. The feature also appears in Gemini.

The cart works across Google Shopping and draws on Google Pay, so payment details and card-linked reward points are already in place. Users pick options and sizes before confirming an item, then reach the cart and a separate "My orders" tab from an icon beside their account profile.

For brands, the change puts a transactional step inside the surface where buying research already happens, and it gives Google a direct record of which product listings convert rather than just which ones get clicked. The rollout lands ahead of the holiday season, when product queries peak.
