Google tests source preferences inside AI Mode citations

Google is testing a way for users to view and edit their preferred sources list from inside the AI Mode citations sidebar. A new "Source preferences" button opens the list, where sources can be added or removed without leaving the answer.

The test was spotted by Damien Andell, who posted a video of the button in action. Google AI Mode has supported preferred sources since May, but until now managing that list sat outside the citation view.

For brands chasing AI citations, the change puts a user's own source list one click from the answer. Being on someone's preferred sources carries more weight when that list is this easy to reach and adjust.
