OpenAI Assigns Human Account Managers to ChatGPT Ads Advertisers
OpenAI has begun assigning named human account managers to advertisers running campaigns on ChatGPT Ads. An email sent to at least one advertiser, shared publicly by Anthony Higman, introduced a representative called Warren Smith as the recipient's "Account Manager for ChatGPT Ads".
The email invites advertisers to reply with questions or problems, and proposes an introductory call to discuss business goals and set up a recurring biweekly check-in on campaign performance and optimisation opportunities.
The move puts ChatGPT Ads closer to the service model advertisers already expect from Google and Meta, where named reps handle accounts. It also suggests OpenAI sees the ad product as a channel worth supporting with people rather than automation alone, which matters for brands weighing whether to put budget into AI assistant placements.
Reaction from practitioners was mixed. Higman joked about the volume of calls such reps generate across platforms, while one reply noted the split: AI for support, humans for sales.
