ChatGPT Adds Virtual Try-On for Clothing and Accessories

OpenAI has begun rolling out virtual try-on for clothing and accessories in ChatGPT on mobile and web. A Try on button appears on product listings, and selecting it prompts the user to take or upload a selfie, which ChatGPT Images uses to generate a visual of the item on them.

The reference photo is stored for later try-ons and can be changed or removed under Settings, then Personalization, then Reference photos. The same update adds a favourites feature: products can be saved to Favourites or sorted into folders inside the ChatGPT Library.

For brands, the change puts product imagery and catalogue data directly inside an assistant that shoppers already use for research. Being the listing ChatGPT can pull into a try-on flow depends on the same product feed and structured data work that supports citation in AI answers, so retail marketers now have a visual, transactional reason to keep those feeds clean.
