Google adds multi-account management and longer headlines to Search profiles

Google has updated Search profiles, the verified pages that let publishers pull their social accounts, recent articles and links into one shareable space. Media organisations that run several publications can now claim and manage profiles for all of their sub-brands from a single login, rather than signing in and out of separate accounts.

Article display inside a profile has also changed. Image thumbnails are now optimised so that articles render better, and headline length has been increased to improve readability and give recent work more room to stand out.

Eligibility has widened in the United States. Publishers and creators now qualify with 10,000 followers across YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok, down from the previous threshold.

For brands chasing citations in AI answers, the update matters less for what it does than for where it sits. Search profiles are a Google-controlled surface for verified identity and fresh content, and a lower follower bar puts that surface within reach of smaller publishers whose material AI assistants draw on.
