Google Marks 28th Birthday With Doodle That Opens AI Mode Quiz
Google is marking its 28th birthday with a Doodle that reverts to an early version of the company logo. Clicking it drops the user into AI Mode, where they can take a trivia quiz on Google's company lore, historical quirks and birthday traditions.
Google has observed 27 September as its birthday since 2006, a date chosen to commemorate a record-breaking page indexing milestone. The company was formally incorporated on 4 September 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
The quiz is a consumer-facing use of AI Mode rather than a change to how the assistant selects or cites sources. For brands tracking their presence in AI answers, the Doodle offers no new visibility or citation mechanics.
