Google opens AI Mode information monitoring to all users worldwide

Google has made information monitoring in AI Mode available to every user globally, after a limited run for AI Ultra and Pro subscribers. Robby Stein, VP of Product for Google Search, announced the wider rollout in a post on X on Monday.

The feature lets people ask AI Mode to watch a topic and keep checking for changes. Search will also propose monitoring tasks while someone is searching. Stein said it draws on sites, forums, social posts, real-time data sources and the Shopping Graph of more than 60 billion products.

The examples Stein gave were local and shopping focused: new restaurants or pop-ups nearby, local holiday activities for children, and back-in-stock or price-drop alerts. A demo video showed AI Mode setting up a task for vintage markets and pop-up events in Austin, listing flea markets, stoop sales and block parties.

Google first described information agents at I/O in May, saying they would reach Pro and Ultra subscribers over the summer. The June launch covered Ultra subscribers only. Monday's post uses the term info monitoring capabilities, does not list supported languages, and does not say when Pro access began.

Neither announcement explains how Search chooses the sources behind an update, and the June post's mention of links to the web is absent from the new one. Local businesses and retailers therefore cannot yet tell how often monitoring updates will surface their sites or send them visits. Stein directed users to the Google app to try the feature.
