Google Tests AI Overviews Below Hotel Knowledge Panels
Google is testing a placement change for AI Overviews on hotel searches, moving the generated summary from the top of the results page to a panel at the bottom right. The test was spotted by Lluc Penycate, who shared screenshots of an AI Overview appearing beneath a hotel knowledge panel rather than above the standard results.
AI Overviews normally sit at the top of the page, so the shift would push the AI answer below the hotel listing and its details. The change appears to be connected to other recent adjustments Google has made to AI Overviews inside local panels.
For hotels and the agencies marketing them, the position of the AI summary decides how much attention it gets before a user reaches the booking links and knowledge panel content. A lower placement could mean fewer eyes on the AI answer, though it also keeps the summary in view for anyone scrolling through the panel.
