OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 in ChatGPT worldwide, paired with a new Intelligent UI that mixes text, visuals and interactive elements in a single answer. The update reaches Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users in the Chat tab from today, and Free and Go users from tomorrow.

GPT-6 replaces the 'Latest' option in the model menu, while GPT-5.6 Sol remains available separately. Paid plans in the first wave run on GPT-6 Sol, Free and Go on GPT-6 Luna, and Enterprise access depends on admin settings. The models behind ChatGPT Work and Codex are unchanged.

The Intelligent UI decides how each response is laid out based on the question, and can return buttons, forms and charts, or plain text when that suits better. Users can ask ChatGPT to build a tool mid-conversation, such as a savings calculator or a bill splitter. The feature is appearing gradually on web and updated apps at thinking levels from Instant to Extra High, but not on the Pro thinking level, which runs on GPT-6 Astra, or on older macOS and Windows desktop apps.

For brands chasing citations in AI answers, the announcement leaves a gap: OpenAI has not said how sources will be shown when a response arrives as a chart, comparison or tool. Search-backed answers may still carry citations behind a Sources button where available. GPT-6 Instant also starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant for queries needing web search, and OpenAI says the model is better at judging when to search and at finding supporting information.
