AI search is changing ecommerce forever
Online retailers are still publishing catalogues and product pages designed for an earlier version of search, where shoppers typed six-word queries and picked from a page of blue links. That format no longer matches how people find products through AI assistants, which answer with a recommendation rather than a list of links.
Lucas Tieleman of Optiversal made the argument in a conversation about how AI search is reshaping ecommerce. The shift puts pressure on retailers to structure product data so AI systems can read, cite and recommend it.
