Bing Tests Replacing Copilot With AI Mode In Search Tabs

Microsoft is testing a change to Bing that would replace or rename the Copilot search tab with the label AI Mode, borrowing the name Google uses for its own AI search engine. The test was spotted by Sachin Patel, who posted a screenshot on X.

Bing already uses Copilot Search as the name for its AI search experience, and the company made a similar move earlier when it adopted Google's AI Overviews label for the AI responses shown at the top of Bing results.

For brands tracking how they appear in AI answers, the naming shift matters less than the underlying surface. Bing's AI tab is one of the places where citations and recommendations are generated, so any change to how it is labelled or positioned affects where marketers look for visibility and how they report it.
